Ingrid Lecordier

Associate - Barrister, Juristconsult Chambers

Ingrid was admitted to the Bar of Mauritius and thereafter joined Juristconsult Chambers, where she practises as Counsel with a primary focus on litigation and dispute resolution. She regularly appears before the courts of Mauritius and acts for both domestic and international clients in high-value and high-stakes corporate and commercial disputes, including complex contentious insolvency matters.

Her court practice includes the drafting and conduct of pleadings, and the conduct of trials and hearings involving significant legal and financial exposure. She is experienced in advocacy before judges at first instance and in appellate proceedings.

In addition to court litigation, her practice also extends to arbitration and other forms of alternative dispute resolution, in which she represents clients in commercially sensitive and legally complex disputes. She has gained overseas experience in Melbourne, Australia, where she was involved in dispute resolution proceedings and the drafting of pleadings and written submissions.

Ingrid is routinely instructed to chair and conduct disciplinary proceedings and has particular expertise in contentious workplace disputes, including workplace harassment matters and internal investigations

  • Yamagin Tsusho Company Limited before the Bankruptcy Court of the Supreme Court to resist an application to set aside a statutory demand in the sum of JPY 5,504,000
  • Yamagin Tsusho Company Limited before the Court of Civil Appeal
  • Tasa Exports Ltd and Venita Exports & Holdings Ltd before the Bankruptcy Court of the Supreme Court to resist an application to set aside a statutory demand in the sum of approximately USD 283,482
  • CIM Finance Limited, IQera Indian Ocean Ltd, ProductLife (Mauritius) Life Science Services Ltd and other local companies to conduct disciplinary committees against their employees;
  • As a mediator and assisting in the identification of issues and the exploration of options to facilitate mutually acceptable and/or amicable agreements to resolve disputes;
  • As a Junior Counsel for IBL Ltd against their former employees before the Industrial Court
  • As a Junior Counsel for Logidis Ltd against their former employees before the Industrial Court
  •  As a Junior Counsel before the Assessment Review Committee to make representations in relation to tax-related matters;
  • A major transaction to assist a bridge facility in the sum of USD 250 Million
  • Clients at the Conciliation & Mediation division at the Labour Office
