Michael Mathenge advises on various aspects of banking and finance. As a team member, he advises on a diverse range of matters including the preparation and perfection of bank securities, legal compliance requirements for financial institutions, real estate investment trusts, emerging issues in the banking sector such as financial technology and conducting due diligence reports and preparing legal opinions in proposed merger and acquisition transactions.
Additionally, Michael is also involved in the real estate sector including advising clients on statutory and regulatory requirements for the purchase and sale of property, leasing and subleasing, land use, joint ventures, construction, planning and development, formation of investment vehicles, title processing and completion formalities
Experience has included advising:
- As a team member, assisting in various due diligence investigations and preparing legal opinions to various clients
- As a team member assisting in drafting and review of various security documents in a loan to a State Owned Enterprise
- As a team member, assisting a multinational carrier in the aviation industry set up in Kenya
- As a team member, assisting a company in transfer of its partnership interest to a D-REIT and the re-opening and upsizing of its Medium term Note
