With qualifications in both law and taxation, Abou Sarr works with clients to understand the tax implications of their projects. He provides regulatory advice on foreign investment and for specific sectors, including consumer goods, finance, manufacturing and natural resources projects. Abou also advises on VAT and duty requirements for cross-border transactions.

Experience has included advising:

  • Industrial and Commercial Bank of China on tax issues relating to leasing the United Nations buildings in Dakar’s satellite city
  • Lufthansa in Benin on taxes applying to different company structures
  • The SNE joint venture (Cairn Energy / Woodside Petroleum / FAR) on the taxes applying to their inter-company loans
  • Fortesa on the granting of securities in the oil and gas sector in Senegal
  • Child Fund International on taxes applying to expatriate salaries
  • Goethe Institute on VAT applying to the institute’s operations
  • Airbus and a multinational Spanish bank on the bridging finance for the sale of an A330 new airplane to Air Senegal – the first in Africa
  • Casa Orascom on real state, corporate and tax matters
  • Ageroute on acquiring a loan from the Bank of Africa
