Marion van Dorssen joined ESI in 2019. She advised on various commercial matters including, business transactions, shareholding structures and investments with a focus on private equity and venture capital firms. She also advised on labor law issues, environmental legislation and compliance, and mining matters.

Marion currently holds the position of Risk and Compliance Associate, attending to all matters related to risk and compliance in accordance with relevant legislation. 

She furthermore attends to the marketing and business development of ESI in collaboration with DLA Piper. 

Marion's experience includes:

  • advising on various commercial law matters, including business transactions, shareholding structures and investments, with a focus on private equity and venture capital firms;
  • advising on environmental legislation and compliance in Namibia; 
  • advising on cryptocurrency and applicable legislation;
  • drafting and reviewing various contracts;
  • due diligences for various local and international entities; 
  • attending to all internal risk and compliance matters, such as, amongst others, regulatory compliance with the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC), receiver of revenue, social security commission, employment equity commission, BIPA, Law Society of Namibia; internal risk audits; KYC procedure implementation; Financial Intelligence Act (FIA) and Know-Your-Client (KYC) training; and sanctions screenings; and 
  • attending to business development matters, including CSR, ESG and tender applications as well as the management of ESI's pro bono portfolio.

  • Associate admitted to the High Court of Namibia (2019)
