Catherine joined the firm in 2025 as an Associate Trainee and is building experience in corporate and commercial law, project finance, banking and finance, and tax. She is a practicing advocate of the High Court and subordinate courts, except for the Primary Court.

She works closely with partners, supporting the provision of legal advice on a wide range of corporate matters in Tanzania. Catherine has assisted in advising both local and international clients in the energy, natural resources, and financial sectors, particularly on transactions requiring careful alignment with applicable regulatory frameworks.

Her experience includes preparing due diligence reports, drafting sale and purchase agreements, and supporting business formation and post-incorporation services across various industries. Through this exposure, Catherine is developing practical expertise in complex infrastructure and investment projects, with a growing focus on PPP advisory and capacity-building assignments. She has also supported the review of financing and security documentation, conducted regulatory compliance assessments, and contributed to contract negotiations in multi-party transactions. Catherine is detail-oriented and committed to delivering commercially sound legal solutions aligned with clients’ strategic objectives, with a growing interest in tax structuring and infrastructure finance, particularly in the context of cross-border investments.

Experience has included advising:

  • As a team member, advised National Bank of Commerce Limited and NMB Bank PLC in respect of a USD 200 million partly secured syndicated financing to the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar for the financing of key and strategic development projects for the financial year 2023/2024.
  • As a team member, Advised Maasalama Limited on the registration and development of a USD 4.5 million luxury boutique resort and integrated hospitality training institute in Jambiani, Zanzibar.
  • As a team member, advising the multilateral development finance institution on a proposed trade finance guarantee transaction involving a local bank.
  • As a team member, advised one of the leading providers of trade finance within Eastern and Southern Africa on a USD 110 million trade finance facility for an agricultural company in Tanzania.
  • As a team member, conducted legal due diligence on the target companies involving review of corporate records, material contracts, licenses, and regulatory compliance to identify potential risks and support transaction decision-making.
  • As a team member, advised a local bank on a USD 32,805,423 standby letter of credit issued to the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar for key strategic development projects in the 2025/2026 financial year.
