Infrastructure Finance

Our infrastructure team is comprised of lawyers with expertise in project and infrastructure finance (including public-private partnership structures), public finance, capital markets and tax. We advise clients in a diverse range of sectors, including transportation (railroads and ports) and telecoms.

Experience has included advising:

  • As the lead counsel to the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania through the Tanzania Investment Centre to advise on one of the largest ports and special economic zone projects in East Africa with an expected investment of USD10 billion.
  • As part of the international team, advised the lenders (including Standard Chartered Bank, Proparco, EKN and local DFIs) as local counsel in connection with USD240 million financing of MIC Tanzania Limited, a telecom operator in Tanzania
  • The Government of Tanzania in respect of the USD3 billion Mchuchuma-Liganga project. We represented the Government of Tanzania through the National Development Corporation on the project, which involved procuring a sponsor to develop a coal mine power project and an iron ore mine and smelter project in South West Tanzania
