Esther Nafula has 9 years of experience in legal practice. Esther advises financial institutions on lending arrangements and other forms of specialised finance, as well as on compliance obligations with Uganda’s financial services regulatory regime. 

Experience has included advising:

  • Advised Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited and Jumo World Holding Limited in connection with the structured warehouse financing of US$ 18,000,000 (United States Dollars Eighteen Million Only) granted to JUMO UG ABS LTD.​
  • Advised African Development Bank in connection with the proposed Partial Credit Guarantee Agreement worth US$ 2,000,000 (United States Dollars Two Million Only) granted to the African Fertilizer and Agribusiness Partnership.​
  • Advised in a transaction that involves acting as lender’s counsel on a financing to a micro-lending entity in Uganda in a sum of USD 3,000,000. The micro- lending entity provides loans to its borrowers who are engaged in the transportation business of two and three-wheeler vehicles. ​
  • Provided legal advice in a financing by International Finance Corporation to a Mauritian entity (Mammoth) and certain of its Subsidiaries in various African jurisdictions including Uganda. ​
  • Acting as Lender’s counsel in connection with a borrowing to Greenlight Planet Incorporated (a company incorporated in the United States of America) with various subsidiaries in different jurisdictions. ​
  • Advising KFW as lender to the Ugandan Government. The transaction involved giving advice in respect to the valid execution of documentation by the Ugandan Government and the validity, and enforceability of the project documents from a Ugandan law perspective. ​

Professional Qualifications

  • Advocate admitted to the High Court of Uganda.

  • Master of Laws awarded by the University Of London (whose academic guidence and examinations are conducted by Queen Mary University of London) - Corporate ^ Commecial Law (2024)
  • LLB (Hons), Uganda Christian University, Uganda (2013).
