Wasiimah has joined Juristconsult Chambers as a Pupil Barrister in 2025 and as an Associate-Barrister, following the completion of the Law Practitioners’ Vocational Course, where she was ranked third in the Vocational Examinations for Barristers. Wasiimah’s practice encompasses a broad range of legal areas, more especially civil and commercial litigation, corporate law and labour law.

Wasiimah has experience working with both local and international clients and is actively involved in advisory works, drafting legal documentation as well as employment disputes and litigation.

Experience has included: 

  • Drafting legal opinions and documentation related to employment structures, compliance and workplace policies for multinational and local entities
  • Assisting in the conduct and chairing of disciplinary committees
  • Drafting and reviewing settlement agreements, ensuring alignment with statutory requirements and advising on compromise agreements
  • Assisting with the negotiations leading to compromise agreements
  • Drafting opinions on redundancy, performance management, employment termination-analysing relevant laws and advising on best practices for employers
  • Providing high-level strategic guidance for a major international client’s entry into the Mauritian market, including steering legal considerations for employment structures and compliance. This involved advising on best practices and coordinating with global counsel to ensure alignment with local regulations; and
  • Collaborating on fact finding committees to address workplace issues and ensure fair and thorough investigation and resolution
