Yumna is an Associate-Barrister with cross-disciplinary foundation in both English and French law, two of the world’s most influential legal traditions. This dual grounding allows her to navigate and reconcile common law and civil law principles with ease, an asset that is particularly valuable in Mauritius’ hybrid legal system and in cross-border work where multiple jurisdictions intersect.
Her practice spans corporate, commercial, and financial law, with a focus on cross-border transactions, regulatory frameworks, and complex legal documentation under Mauritian law. She has advised on high-value financings, strategic M&A, investment fund structuring, and insurance matters. With courtroom experience and specialisation in International Commercial Law and in Intellectual Property, Yumna brings both technical precision and strategic insight to her work.
Experience has included advising:
- Borr Drilling Ltd in connection with its USD 1.54 Billion High-Yield Bond & Super Senior Revolving Credit Facility, advising on Mauritian aspects of security and financing arrangements and issuing legal opinions to transaction parties
- International lenders on multi-jurisdictional facilities, security structures and registration requirements under Mauritian law
- The Central Bank (East Asia) through participation in a comprehensive private equity sector reform roadmap, analysing market trends, regulatory frameworks, and providing actionable recommendations
