Dear Reader,

This edition will speak about law n^o 1/17 of August 22^nd, 2017 revision the law n^o 1/017 of October 23^rd, 2003 and governing the banking activities in Burundi. Indeed the government has just introduced this new legal instrument with new reforms in the banking and financial sector in Burundi. This special Edition will try to highlight some of these innovations. As a first step, this paper will discuss innovations that focus on credit institutions commonly known as banks. The second article will explore the innovations made with regard to the other players in the sector such as the National Postal Service, telecommunications companies, etc.
