Cynthia Injehu is an Associate in Commercial, Employment, Intellectual Property and Technology Practice. She works as part of a team advising local and international clients on day-to-day regulatory matters, with a focus on commercial law, employment law, intellectual property, immigration law and technology-related advisory.

Cynthia’s experience includes supporting clients on corporate set-ups and structuring, drafting and reviewing commercial and employment agreements, advising on ICT-related regulatory requirements, data protection and privacy compliance under Kenyan law, workplace procedures, termination processes, and general compliance with Kenyan employment laws. She also assists with intellectual property matters, including trademark registration, renewal and assignment, as well as intellectual property due diligence in corporate transactions.

Experience has included advising:

  • As a team member, a not for profits organization on the registration options in Kenya.
  • As a team member, a multi-national company on the policies and regulations governing the telecommunications, digital infrastructure and technology sector in Kenya.
  • As a team member, a multinational company on compliance with Kenyan employment laws, including review of employment contracts and HR policies.
  • As a team member, an employer in relation to workplace disciplinary processes and internal investigations, providing support on procedure and legal risk management.
  • As a team member, a company undergoing a restructuring exercise, on employee transfer.
  • As a team member, an international organization on data protection and privacy compliance under the Kenyan Data Protection Act, including cross-border data transfer considerations.
  • As a team member, clients on the registration, renewal, and assignment of intellectual property rights, including trademarks and copyrights, and liaising with the relevant registries to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
  • As a team member, a start-up technology company on intellectual property ownership and licensing issues, particularly in relation to software and digital products.
  • As a team member, a foreign investor in a pre-acquisition legal due diligence exercise on a target company, focusing on employment, data protection, intellectual property and technology-related matters.

  • As a team member, a client on trademark portfolio management, including conducting availability searches and advising on brand protection strategies in Kenya.
