Florence is an Associate in the Commercial, Employment and IPT Practice Group. She advises on a wide range of commercial matters including employment, intellectual property, and information and communication technology.

 Florence has been involved in advising clients on the various options for setting up in Kenya including limited liability companies, branches of foreign companies, companies limited by guarantee and NGOs. She has also attended to various applications relating to intellectual property including registration and renewal of trademarks.

She also assists clients with preparation and review of employment contracts and Human Resource Manuals and Policies, and regularly advises employers on the termination options available to them including summary dismissal and mutual separation.

Florence has also been involved in advising clients on different aspects of data protection and telecommunication laws in Kenya

Experience has included advising:

  • As a team member, a global cloud computing service provider on the compliance requirements, best practices and mandates for using metal detection devices in their data centres in the country.
  • As a team member, a global cyber-intelligence, data acquisition and analysis company on the legal framework governing intelligence gathering by government agencies.
  • As a team member, a leading African University on cyber-harassment and defamation in the context of the Computer Misuse and Cyber Crimes Act, 2018
  • As a team member, various local and international PBOs on the implications of the operationalization of the Public Benefits Organisations Act, 2013 on their operations.
  • As a team member, a local telecommunications operator on the data protection implications of an information request by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) in a tax audit.
  • As a team member, a leading International pharmaceutical company on the potential implications of conducting patient engagement activities in Kenya.
  • As a team member, a leading development finance institution on the terms of various telecommunication licences including Content Service Provider licences, Network Facilities Provider Tier 2 licences, Landing Rights Authorization licence, as part of a borrowing due diligence transaction.
