John Mwangi advises on mergers and acquisitions, equity capital investments, venture stage investments, joint ventures, equity capital markets, corporate reorganisations and corporate governance. He also advises on competition matters.
As part of the Corporate team, John advises clients from a wide range of sectors including financial services, consumer goods and retail, industrials, energy and natural resources, insurance, real estate and technology.

- As a team member, Access Bank Plc in its acquisition of National Bank of Kenya Limited
- As a team member, Britam Holdings Plc in the sale of its equity stake in Equity Group Holdings Plc to the IFC by way of a private transfer outside the securities exchange
- As a team member, Sun Capital, a private equity firm, and Flamingo Horticulture, a leading vertically integrated horticulture business, in respect of the sale of Dudutech, Africa's leading integrated pest management business to Bioline Agrosciences, an InVivo Group company.
- As a team member, NIC Group Plc in the merger with Commercial Bank of Africa Limited to form NCBA Group Plc
- As a team member, the Co-operative Bank of Kenya Limited in its acquisition of a 90% stake in Kingdom Bank Limited (formerly Jamii Bora Bank Limited)
- As a team member, Nutreco, a world leader in farm management and animal nutrition in its joint venture with Unga Group PLC in Kenya and Uganda
- As a team member, Mit African Management Limited, a member of the Mitsui Group, in a joint venture with the promoters of the ETC Group to restructure the ownership of Kyosk Digital, a digital retail distribution platform
- As a team member, Ramco Plexus Limited, a member of the Ramco Group, in its acquisition of a 50% stake in Platinum Packaging Limited, a leading provider of flexible packaging and labelling solutions
- As a team member, numerous multinationals in relation to intra-group restructure and/or reorganisation of their businesses including Hewlett Packard, General Electric, Reckitt Benckiser and Essilor
- As a team member, numerous local companies and international investors in respect of competition law matters including restrictive trade practices, merger notifications and anti-trust investigations in East Africa and COMESA
