Marion Irungu advises clients on the full range of tax law matters, including tax advisory, audits, and disputes before the Tax Appeals Tribunal and superior courts. She regularly assists clients in responding to tax assessments issued by the Kenya Revenue Authority, provides guidance on tax implications of business structuring, and supports mergers and acquisitions through tax due diligence. Marion also advises on compliance and registration for charitable organizations, financial institutions, and corporates operating across multiple jurisdictions.

In addition to her core tax practice, Marion has experience in regulatory compliance, commercial law, often working as part of cross-functional teams providing strategic legal solutions to clients in the banking, development, and social enterprise sectors.

Experience has included advising:

  • Clients on applications for tax exemption status and engagements with the Kenya Revenue Authority.
  • Individuals and companies on tax and statutory registrations with the Kenya Revenue Authority.
  • Clients in tax appeals before the Tax Appeals Tribunal and the High Court, including drafting pleadings and submissions
  • As a team member on legal due diligence and preparation of tax and regulatory opinions in corporate transactions
  • As a team member in alternative dispute resolution proceedings with the Kenya Revenue Authority.
  • As a team member, on tax compliance reviews and preparation of compliance opinions.
  • For a multinational company on application of Double Taxation Agreements for cross-border transactions.
