IKM new staff alert in the Projects, Energy & Infrastructure (PEI) team

We recognise that Kenya’s energy sector is one of the most vibrant in Africa and a key driver of FDI in Kenya. Supporting that sector is a priority for IKM and we are therefore delighted to welcome Judy Muigai and Tessa Dignam into our Projects, Energy & Infrastructure Practice Group.

IKM’s growing Projects, Energy & Infrastructure team

Judy Muigai, rejoined IKM on 1 July 2019 as a Legal Director.  She brings on board a wealth of experience gained in large international organisations such as PwC and General Electric (GE).

Judy’s impressive career includes:

  • recently working as a PwC Director responsible for leading engagements involving various tax and legal briefs around infrastructure deals, business restructuring, transaction due diligence, tax structuring and tax disputes and providing support to new entrants into the Kenyan market;
  • a role as a Regional Tax Manager with GE covering Sub-Saharan Africa;
  • working as IKM’s own Tax Director during her initial time with IKM; and
  • significant prior experience at PwC including a  role as Senior Tax Manager at PwC Kenya and PwC South Africa

For over 15 years, Judy’s client work has spanned various international and local public and private sector players in the oil and gas, power, aviation, banking & insurance, manufacturing, technology and maritime industries. Judy has been involved in advising on deals in Kenya, South Africa, Ethiopia, Angola, Nigeria, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire and other countries in the region. 

Judy is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and holds a certificate in Business Strategy from Cornell University (US), an LLM in International Economic Law from University of Warwick (UK) and an LLB in Law and Management Science from Keele University (UK).
