Experience: Minimum of Two (2) years’ proven relevant experience. Prior experience working in a professional services environment or law firm is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Professional HR certification (CIPM, SHRM, or equivalent) is highly desirable
  • Master’s degree in HR or a related discipline is an added advantage

Job Purpose

The HR Officer will provide operational and strategic support to the Human Resources function, contributing to the development and implementation of HR processes aligned with the Firm’s overall business objectives. The role spans key HR functions including Talent Acquisition, Performance Management, Employee Relations, Learning & Development, Compensation & Benefits, and HR Operations. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with Nigerian labour laws and HR best practices, while fostering a high-performance culture and positive employee experience across the Firm.

Job Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition (Recruitment, Selection, and Onboarding)

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment processes, including, sourcing, selection, and onboarding
  • Update job descriptions to align with evolving business needs
  • Coordinate onboarding processes to ensure seamless integration of new hires
  • Oversee induction programmes and probationary review processes

Performance Management

  • Support the administration of the Firm’s performance management framework
  • Coordinate performance appraisal cycles and ensure timely completion
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs)
  • Facilitate continuous feedback mechanisms between employees and line managers

Compensation and Benefits

  • Support compensation benchmarking and provide insights on market trends
  • Assist in the development and implementation of reward structures and benefits programmes
  • Provide administrative support for payroll processing and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Support the review and administration of employee benefits (HMO, pensions, wellness initiatives etc)

Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee relations matters
  • Support conflict resolution and provide guidance on HR policies
  • Administer engagement surveys and analyse feedback for actionable insights
  • Coordinate employee engagement initiatives and wellness programmes

HR Operations & Data Management

  • Maintain accurate employee records on the HR Information System (HRIS)
  • Prepare HR reports and analyse metrics (attrition, recruitment, performance, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with Nigerian labour laws and internal policies

HR Strategy & Policy Implementation

  • Support the alignment of HR initiatives with the Firm’s strategic objectives
  • Assist in workforce planning and talent management initiatives
  • Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of HR policies and procedures

Knowledge Needs & Experience

The ideal candidate must possess the following competencies, including but not limited to:

  • Working knowledge of HR best practices across talent management, performance management, and employee relations
  • Working knowledge of Nigerian labour laws, employee rights, and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Experience using HR Information Systems (HRIS) for data management and reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to support HR projects, including workforce planning and employee engagement initiatives
  • Experience in recruitment, onboarding, and performance management processes
  • Ability to analyse HR data and translate insights into practical recommendations
