Amendments to the legal framework for hiring citizens of foreign nationality in Mozambique

We hereby inform the business community and other interested parties that the Council of Ministers, through the Decree no. 43/2022, of 19 of August (D43/2022), approved amendments to articles 5, 10 and 18 of the Regulation of the Mechanisms and Procedures for the Hiring of Citizens of Foreign Nationality, approved by Decree no. 37/2016, of 31 of August (D37/2016).

Among other amendments, under the scope of D43/2022, short-term work is considered to be the one which does not exceed 120 days per year, unsequential or consecutive, as opposed to the previous 90 days established by D37/2016.

This and other amendments were introduced within the scope of review of D37/2016, in order to adjust it to the recent challenges of labor market development and the business environment in the Republic of Mozambique.
