Vaccination Campaign against COVID-19

We hereby inform the business community and other interested parties that the National Vaccination Campaign against COVID-19 is underway throughout the country, started on March 8, 2021. The delimitation of eligibility criteria and priority groups for vaccination was approved by Decree No. 8/2021, of 8 March, obeying the amount of vaccine available or allocated to each phase and group, groups of professionals at risk, epidemiological profile, vulnerability to serious disease, staying in places where the implementation of prevention measures is difficult, and logistical and operational aspects.

It is also informed that the Government has not approved compulsory vaccination measures, therefore companies cannot, in principle, force their employees to be vaccinated. However, it is recommended that these companies, together with their employees, in order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, adhere to vaccination under the National Vaccination Plan or implement in their respective workplaces, without prejudice to the observance of the other prevention measures in force, according to their sector of activities.

Should companies intend to implement inoculation in workplaces, they must adopt clear policies, establishing the criteria, terms and conditions of inoculation, upon prior consultation with interested parties and in coordination with the Ministry of Health, in order to avoid risks and possible violations of the law.
