Experience has included:

  • Acting for a multilateral development bankin reviewing transaction documents and rendering a legal opinion and general advice in relation to a line of credit facility of USD 10 million and a trade finance line of credit facility of USD 10 million offered by it to Family Bank Kenya Limited.
  • Acted for a Kenyan commercial bank. in connection with a USD 150 million syndicated loan facility to be used as Tier 2 capital by a consortium of international development finance institutions.
  • Acted for a credit guarantee provider on the provision of a partial credit guarantee relating to the Acorn Green Bond, a medium term note programme of up to KES 5 billion
  • Acted for a regional development bankin reviewing transaction documents and rendering a legal opinion and general advice in relation to a syndicated loan facility offered by it to the Government of the Republic of Kenya in the sum of up to USD 750 million The brief involved reviewing the facility agreements and the variation of the facility agreement and advising on the documentation including the Kenyan law governed conditions precedent, issuing a legal opinion and providing general advice and assistance on Kenyan law matters with respect to the transaction.

 

  • Acted for a regional development bank on a USD 200 million short term loan to the Government of Kenya through the National Treasury. IKM’s role included; reviewing the Facility Agreement extending the loan, advising and assisting in all documentary arrangements required including the Kenyan law governed conditions precedents in order to achieve the financial close, issuing a legal opinion and providing general advice on Kenyan law matters.
  • Acted for a renewable energy companyin the setting up of a 100MW wind energy project in Kajiado County.
  • Acted for a Kenyan energy company in a USD 55 million syndicated financing from international development finance institutions for of over seven (7) small run-of-river hydro power projects in Kenya.
  • Acted for a leading Kenyan commercial bank in connection with subordinated loans in the sum of USD 75million by IFC which qualified as Tier 2 capital. A leading Kenyan commercial bank in connection with USD 75 million subordinated loans from an international development finance institution, qualifying as Tier 2 capital.
  • Acted as local counsel for a group of 3 mandated lead arrangers in a syndicated loan facility to the Government of Kenya acting through the National Treasury, in the sum of more than USD 600 Million.
  • Acted for a consortium of four local lenders, the global coordinator, sustainability coordinator, mandated lead arranger and bookrunner and the agent in a multi-billion Kenya Shillings sustainability-linked term loan facility to a leading telecommunications company
