Renewables

Renewable energy is providing millions of people in Africa with access to electricity for the first time. In Kenya, the government aims to achieve universal access by 2020 through geothermal, hydro, wind and solar projects using a combination of grid extension, mini-grid and off-grid solutions.

Our lawyers have experience in the renewable energy market, advising sponsors, developers, financiers and regulatory bodies on transactions across the spectrum of renewable energy technologies, including hydro, solar, onshore and offshore wind, energy-from-waste, biomass and biofuels.

We have hands-on, practical experience of delivering each stage of a project, including: planning, permitting, joint ventures and other corporate matters, structuring equity investment, developing project documents (such as power-purchase agreements (PPAs), government letters of support, engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) and operation and maintenance (O&M) arrangements, as well as project finance.
