Construction, Engineering and Infrastructure Disputes

Infrastructure, energy and construction projects are technically complicated, strategically important and of high value. These projects often involve multiple parties from numerous jurisdictions.

We know that disputes do not take place in a vacuum, but are firmly rooted in cultural, political and economic environments. We have experience dealing with such disputes in Mozambique with DLA Piper.

Experience has included advising:

  • A national construction company on a judicial process against a construction owner for the breach of a contracting agreement.
  • A leading construction company on a judicial process related to construction defects.
  • A Mozambican engineering and civil construction company on a special restitution action of a piece of land located in Katembe District where construction was being erected.
  • A leading construction company on an extrajudicial demand process for the replacement of withholdings by the bank guarantee on a contracting agreement for the construction of an educational institution.
  • An international non-governmental water diffusion organization on an extrajudicial demand process to require the completion of the construction of a biodigester by the builder.
  • Several engineering and construction companies on extrajudicial and judicial processes for debt collection.
