Administrative Law

Our lawyers in Nigeria are experienced in liaising with governments, government agencies and companies fully or partly-owned by government.  Using this experience, combined with a strong knowledge of administrative laws and regulations, our lawyers are able to provide accurate and effective advice.

We advise both public and private sector clients on a wide range of matters arising from the development, passage, content, interpretation and application of laws and regulations, as well as dispute resolution and investigative processes, including judicial review, public inquiries, statutory appeals and tribunal processes.

We also provide advice and representation to clients who have been summoned by judicial panels of enquiry or legislative committees. In our administrative law practice, our goal is to minimise administrative delays and avoid administrative overreach.

Experience has included advising:

  • A Nigerian telecommunications service provider in instituting an action for a judicial review of the decision of the Nigerian Telecommunications Commission not to review its spectrum licensing lease.
  • A major insurance multinational on administrative requirements and decisions of industry regulators
  • The Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria, a public body created to identify and recover delinquent debts in the Nigerian financial services sector
  • In the prosecution of a case against the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on behalf of a multinational
  • In the successful prosecution of an aviation claim against the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority
