Aviation Litigation and Regulation

The aviation industry is a busy sector requiring high degrees of precision and care, in line with applicable law and global standards. Our lawyers have a deep knowledge of these standards which they use in advising aviation claims.

We represent airline companies in litigation relating to baggage claims and travel disruptions. We have also litigated contract claims for services rendered in the Nigerian aviation industry. Our participation in these cases have helped shape Nigerian aviation law.

In one instance, we secured a significant decision against a Nigerian airline and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority in a claim arising from an air crash.

Experience has included advising:

  • A major Nigerian airline in a dispute regarding services provided under support and partnership agreements
  • In instituting a negligence claim against a Nigerian airline and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority concerning the death of a passenger, obtaining favorable judgement.
  • Successfully an airline company and securing an appellate reduction of damages awarded against the company
  • And representing an airline company in a pending claim for damages for mishandled baggage
  • And representing an airline company in a pending claim by a customer for breach of carriage contract
  • On successfully pursuing an appeal against damages awarded against a client in an air carriage contract claim
